About Johore Battery
Johore Battery was one of the 15-inch gun positions built to defend Singapore's coast in the late 1930s. Three guns sat here. They fired between 5 and 12 February 1942. The British destroyed them so they would not be captured. The Singapore Prisons Service rediscovered the site in 1991. What visitors see on Cosford Road is a replica, not an original barrel. It is a short outdoor stop. Combine it with Changi Chapel and Museum, which holds the internment history. Do not list the working prison as an attraction.
