Frequently asked questions

What is the airport taxi surcharge at Changi?
A flat S$8 surcharge applies from 5:00 PM to 11:59 PM daily, and S$6 at all other times, on top of the metered fare. This is set by the airport, not the taxi company. (Source: changiairport.com.)
How much is a taxi to the city?
About 30 minutes and S$25–S$45 on the meter, plus the airport surcharge (S$6 or S$8) and any midnight (50%) or peak-hour (25%) surcharges that apply. Fares are always metered for street-hailed taxis.
Grab, Gojek or taxi — which is cheaper?
It depends on demand. Ride-hail apps use dynamic pricing and can surge during peak arrivals; taxis are strictly metered with fixed surcharges. Compare the Grab/Gojek/Zig in-app fare with the metered taxi estimate before you book, especially late at night or in bad weather when ride-hail surges can exceed taxi rates.
Can I pre-book a fixed-price transfer?
Yes. The 24-hour Ground Transport Concierge (GTC) offers flat fares of S$70 (4-seater) or S$75 (6-seater) per trip to any destination in Singapore with one drop-off. Book via the Changi App or at the GTC counters in each Arrival hall.
Can I take a taxi across the border to Malaysia?
Only Singapore taxis and Malaysian taxis with an ASEAN Public Service Vehicle Permit (ASEAN PSVP) may operate cross-border taxi or private-hire services. These are hired at Ban San Street Terminal (Singapore) and Johor Larkin Terminal (Malaysia), or via licensed Singapore taxi operators. Standard taxis at Changi cannot cross the border.
