A coastal defence relic

Built in the late 1930s, the Johore Battery was part of Singapore's coastal defence system. It consisted of three 15-inch guns — nicknamed "Monster Guns" for their massive size. To prevent them falling into enemy hands during the fall of Singapore in 1942, the British destroyed the guns.
The site lay forgotten until 1991, when the Singapore Prisons Service rediscovered it. A replica of the 15-inch gun was recreated and the site is now a free outdoor attraction, with a few dining options around the area.
It is a quick heritage stop rather than a destination in itself — best paired with the Changi Chapel & Museum, which is the substantial WWII museum in the area, or Changi Village for food.
