Frequently asked questions

How long does the MRT take to the city?
About 35–45 minutes to the city centre via Tanah Merah → East West Line, depending on your final stop. The first train from Changi Airport leaves at 5:31 AM (Mon–Sat) and the last around 11:18 PM toward Tuas Link (12:06 AM toward Pasir Ris).
Which terminal does the MRT connect to?
Changi Airport MRT Station (CG2) is directly linked to Terminal 2 and Terminal 3. For T1, take the free Skytrain from T2 or T3 (5:00 AM–2:00 AM, or walk via the link bridge 24/7). For T4, take the free shuttle bus from T2 Arrival Pick-Up Door 1.
Can I pay with cash on the bus?
Yes, but exact fare only — drivers do not give change. The MRT does not accept cash at all. A stored-value EZ-Link card or any contactless bank card is far more convenient. Buy EZ-Link cards at Changi Recommends stores or the TransitLink office at Changi Airport MRT.
Do foreign cards work on Singapore public transport?
Yes — Mastercard, Visa and NETS contactless cards work on the SimplyGo system, but foreign-issued cards attract an admin fee. A local EZ-Link card avoids this. Check with your card issuer for overseas transaction fees.
