About Pulau Ubin
Ubin is the island locals still treat as a kampong weekend. NParks records 1,036 hectares, once five islets joined by prawn-farm bunds. Granite quarries and old rubber plots are now forest and grassland. Boats are private. They usually run 6:00–19:00, leave when about 12 people board, and charge about S$4 per person plus S$2 for a bicycle. Operators may leave earlier or later for a higher fare. Confirm before you sit down. If the Ubin jetty has no boat for the return, call NParks at 1800-471-7300. Village food: Encik Hassan (Malay dishes, weekends), Cheong Lian Yuen, Sin Nam Huat, Season Live Seafood, Ah Ma Drink Stall. Chek Jawa Wetlands at the east end is open 7:00–19:00; the 100 ha site mixes six ecosystems. Guided intertidal tours were suspended for pontoon works while the DIY boardwalk stayed open. Camping needs a permit. Pesta Ubin and Ubin Day are June events, not this row.
