Jewel Changi Airport is running its National Day edition of the Light & Music Showcase at the Rain Vortex every night from 1 to 31 August 2026. The show is set to "Home", the Kit Chan National Day Parade theme song that has become a Singapore anthem since the 1990s, with light, sound and water effects choreographed across the 40-metre indoor waterfall. It is free to watch from the Forest Valley and Level 1 viewing decks, and it runs after sunset, so the indoor cascade glows rather than pours.
The showcase is the centrepiece of Jewel's National Day programming, which Changi Airport Group has stretched across July and August this year. Unlike the ticketed attractions upstairs at Canopy Park, the Rain Vortex show needs no booking and no spend. You walk in through the Level 1 public entrance, find a spot on the railings around the Forest Valley, and watch. Each session lasts roughly 10 minutes and loops through the evening, so late diners and transit passengers catching a meal at one of the Jewel restaurants can catch it without planning around a single start time.
What the show actually looks like
The Rain Vortex is already the world's tallest indoor waterfall at 40 metres, and the Light & Music Showcase layers projected light onto the falling water itself. For the National Day edition, the colour palette shifts through red and white, with the lyrics of "Home" audible across the Forest Valley soundscape. The water turns into a screen of sorts. Mist drifts into the planting, and the Shiseido Forest Valley's walkways catch the reflected colour. Photographing it is harder than it looks. The waterfall throws enough spray that a phone lens misted within seconds is the norm, not a fault.
The August run is timed to overlap with the long National Day weekend. Singapore's National Day is 9 August, and the public holiday weekend this year runs 8 to 10 August. The showcase continues nightly for the full month, so visitors who miss the weekend crowds can still catch it on a quieter weeknight. The later in August you go, the thinner the crowds around the railings, but the show itself does not change.
How to watch it well
The best viewing spots are not the obvious ones. The Level 1 viewing deck directly facing the waterfall is the most crowded, and the spray hits it hardest. The Level 2 and Level 3 walkways of the Shiseido Forest Valley give you a higher angle that catches more of the light projection on the falling water, with fewer people pressed against the railing. Allow 20 to 30 minutes if you want to watch two loops; one is enough for most people, but the second reveals details the first hides.
Getting there is straightforward. Jewel sits between Terminals 1, 2 and 3 at Changi Airport, a five-minute walk from any of the three terminal public areas. The nearest MRT station is Changi Airport (CGA), with an underpass linking directly to Jewel's Level 1. If you are driving, the Jewel car park entrances are on Airport Boulevard and the rates rise sharply after the first 90 minutes, so the MRT is the cheaper option for an evening visit. The Rain Vortex show runs regardless of weather; the airport is fully indoors.
