After a three-month closure for its first full-scale renovation, Pokémon Center Singapore reopened at Jewel Changi Airport on 1 July 2026. The revamped store introduced the legendary lion Pokémon Solgaleo as its new symbol, refreshed Singapore-inspired interiors, and 20 commemorative products dropping in two waves. If you have not been since the old Lapras-and-Celebi storefront, the space is now genuinely easier to explore, and the queues for the second merch wave on 7 August will tell you how much demand there still is.

A new symbol: Solgaleo meets the Lion City

The first thing you see at the entrance is a statue of Solgaleo standing beside Pikachu, in front of an animated screen showing familiar Singaporean landmarks. The choice is deliberate. Solgaleo hails from the sunny Alola region and is an emissary of the sun, which the store says connects to Singapore as the Lion City. The old logo fronted by Lapras has retired, and the new logo pin (S$10) is only available at this outlet.

Walk further in and the local references stack up. A trio of Wattrel, Munchlax and Flareon share a meal of berries on a shelf, a nod to Singapore's food culture. The wallpaper behind mimics Peranakan tiles. A city-themed wall in black holds plushies and an interactive touch-screen Pokédex where you can scroll through every Pokémon and check its type, height and weight. Kids burn at least ten minutes on it while parents queue for the cashier.

Inside: a new ocean-themed event space

The back of the store has been rebuilt as an ocean-inspired event zone, presided over by a Vaporeon figure whose mermaid tail gives off Merlion energy. There are tables, chairs and a large-format screen, and this area hosts video game, trading card game and mobile app events. During opening week it doubled as a resting spot for parents waiting out their kids at the Pokémon Mezastar cabinets.

The cashiers moved to the other side of the store, where the console game stations used to be, with an added counter for faster checkout. The plushies are now neatly categorised on shelves, which sounds minor but matters when the store is packed and you are hunting for one specific Eeveelution.

Commemorative merch in two waves

The reopening merch is the real draw. Twenty Singapore-themed products release in two waves. The first wave of 12 items launched on reopening day, 1 July 2026. The standout is the Pikachu holding a durian plush at S$34, the item most likely to sell out and resell. The Solgaleo and Pikachu plush is S$70, the kopi cup and saucer set is S$35, strap keychains are S$20, magnets are S$14, and sticker sets and A4 clear folders start at S$4.

The second wave lands on 7 August 2026 with Pikachu bag charms shaped like local treats, a durian, a cup of kopi and a slice of pandan cake, each S$23, plus t-shirts from S$29 and tote bags at S$48. Purchase limits apply to certain items, so check the signs at the shelf before you load a basket. If you want the durian Pikachu, go early on the 7 August drop, not the Saturday after.

Crowd control during opening week (and after)

From 1 to 5 July, admission was split into two streams. Between 10am and 1pm, only those who won the advance store visit application could enter, capped at two people per slot. From 1pm, same-day queue tickets were handed out from 8.30am at Jewel on a first-come, first-served basis. That strict control has eased now, but weekends in July still draw a crowd, especially around the second merch wave in August.

One thing to know before you make a special trip: there were no Pokémon Trading Card Game products stocked during opening week. Staff confirmed TCG returns after 5 July, but restocks are random and snapped up fast. Do not plan a TCG pilgrimage without checking the store's social channels for restock timing first.

Why it matters at Jewel

This is the first full-scale renovation of a Pokémon Center outside Japan, and it lands during Pokémon's 30th anniversary year. For Jewel, it reinforces the mall's pull as a destination rather than a transit stop. The store sits at #04-201 and 202, a short walk from the Rain Vortex, and a visit pairs naturally with the LEGO Botanicals display running on the ground floor until 26 July and the Wild Coco nasi lemak pop-up on L3.

Opening hours are 10am to 10pm daily. If you are transiting through Changi, you can reach Jewel from all terminals via the link bridges, and you do not need a boarding pass to enter the mall. The store accepts walk-ins outside the managed entry periods, but a weekday morning gives you the most space to actually look at the shelves.
