How to connect to #WiFi@Changi

WiFi at Changi is free in both the public and transit areas of all four terminals and at Jewel. There is no time limit published on the official site, no registration, and no need to enter an email or phone number — a refreshingly frictionless setup compared with most major airports.

  1. 1

    Select the network

Open your device WiFi settings and choose #WiFi@Changi.

  2. 2

    Open a browser

Launch Safari, Chrome, Firefox, or Edge and type any valid website address. You will be redirected to the login page.

  3. 3

    Click the WiFi logo

On the login page, click the WiFi logo to start browsing. No password is required.

Tip: The captive portal can occasionally be slow to appear. If it does not, navigate to a non-HTTPS URL (for example http://neverssl.com) to force the redirect, or open the Changi App which can trigger the login flow.

Speed & reliability

How fast is it, really?

Changi does not publish an official speed figure, so any page quoting a single precise number is making it up. Independent tests tell a more honest story:

  • Ookla / Hardwarezone: averaged ~97 Mbps download, ~114 Mbps upload in one published test.
  • Simology field tests: 70–160 Mbps download, 10–35 Mbps upload, with a ~1-second captive-portal delay.
  • testmy.net logs: averaged ~25 Mbps — lower, reflecting busier periods.

In practice, expect comfortably usable browsing and video streaming, with speed depending heavily on how crowded your terminal is. For guaranteed bandwidth for a video call, a paid lounge or the JustCo centre below are safer bets.

Security

Are the charging points safe?

A common and reasonable worry at public USB ports is "juice-jacking" — hidden data connections that could compromise a phone. Changi addresses this directly: charging ports across Singapore Changi Airport and Jewel Changi Airport are charge-only and will never request data transfer to or from your device. Universal power sockets are also provided for laptops and other plugs.

  • Bring your own cable — Changi does not provide cables for security reasons.
  • All charging points are free, for all passengers, with no time limit — just be considerate during busy periods.
  • Do not leave devices unattended. Approach airport safety and security staff if you have concerns.

Frequently asked questions

Is the WiFi really free and unlimited?
Yes. #WiFi@Changi is free in both the public and transit areas of all terminals and Jewel. You do not need to register, pay, or provide any personal information — select the network, open a browser, and click the WiFi logo on the login page. (Source: changiairport.com.)
How fast is the WiFi?
Changi does not publish an official speed. Independent tests vary widely — real-world reports range from roughly 25 Mbps on congested networks to 70–160 Mbps download at quieter times, with Ookla-measured averages around 97 Mbps. Treat any precise "guaranteed" figure you read online with caution; performance depends on how busy the terminal is.
Do I need to bring my own charging cable?
Yes. Charging points provide USB ports and universal power sockets but Changi does not supply cables, for security reasons. Bring your own USB cable and plug. All charging points are free to use.
Can I leave my phone charging while I go to the gate?
Changi advises against leaving devices unattended. The ports are charge-only (no data transfer), but for theft prevention you should stay with your device and be considerate of other passengers during peak times.
Is there a free place to work or sleep?
There is no free dedicated co-working space. Terminal 3 hosts a JustCo pay-per-minute co-working centre (50 hot-desk workstations, Asia's first in an airport). For free rest, use the 24/7 Snooze Lounges in the transit area of all four terminals — see the Airport Lounges page for details.
What type of power sockets are used?
Universal power sockets are installed across all terminals, compatible with devices from around the world. USB ports are also available. Singapore's mains supply is 230 V / 50 Hz.
