Changi Village Hawker Centre shut Blk 2 and 3 from 1 to 15 October 2026 for repairs and redecoration. That is a short close by hawker standards. The job, stallholders told Seth Lui, was huge ceiling fans of the kind you see in MRT stations, after years of complaints about heat. Today is 25 October. The live NEA R&R table no longer lists Changi Village. The nasi lemak queues have a reason to form again.
What the 15 days were for
Lookup.sg, which draws from the NEA schedule on data.gov.sg, put the window at Thursday 1 October to Thursday 15 October. Little Big Red Dot listed the same dates and counted 87 cooked-food stalls and 42 market stalls. AsiaOne's 4 October roundup said the centre stayed shut till 15 October. A later AsiaOne note on 11 October wrote from 10 to 15 October. Treat 1 to 15 October as the posted window. Miss Lobang re-checked NEA on 13 October and still saw 15 October as the last day.
The live NEA announcements page, fetched 25 October, now shows only Blk 726 Clementi West Street 2, until 27 December, and Blk 22 Lorong 7 Toa Payoh, until 13 December. Changi Village has dropped off. That is the official table catching up with a close that already ended.
Mizzy Corner, and a 2027 rumour
Mizzy Corner at #01-26 has been frying chicken wings here since 1997. Sets still sit on the yellow board at S$4 to S$6. The family told Seth Lui the 15 days were also a rare pause. Hawker hours are not 9 to 5. They also said the committee has talked about a longer close around December 2027. Nothing is signed. Treat December 2027 as talk, not a date.
The last long close they remember was 15 August to 14 November 2022. Roots puts the building at 1975, the first major revamp around 2000, and another 10-month upgrade in 2012. By 1976 there were 74 cooked-food stalls and 78 market stalls. Malay food is still the identity of this centre. 樟宜村小贩中心 is where east-siders argue about 椰浆饭. International Muslim Food Stall, Mizzy Corner, and Changi Famous Nasi Lemak are the three names in that argument. The argument is the point of the bus ride.
Hours, buses, and what to do after
Seth Lui lists the centre hours as 6 am to 2 am Monday to Thursday, 6 am to midnight Friday, and 24 hours Saturday and Sunday. Individual stalls keep their own rest days. International Muslim Food Stall keeps shorter hours than the building. Check the stall.
The address is 2 Changi Village Road, Singapore 500002, next to the bus interchange and a five-minute walk from Changi Point Ferry Terminal. Bus 2, 29, 59, or 109 to Changi Village Interchange, stop 99009. After lunch, Creek Walk on the boardwalk is still open even while Cliff Walk to Sailing Point Walk stays closed. The Ubin boats still leave from 51 Lorong Bekukong.
If you came in early October and found shutters, go back. The fans were the whole point of the fortnight. Whether they actually cool a lunch queue in Changi humidity is a question for the next Saturday.
